In recent years, the highlights for me have been lower-budget, higher-creativity movies. Here's another one—a weird, hilarious, unpredictable musical running on a deep current of sadness.

First impressions of Boys Go to Jupiter

I’m so glad I made the 40-minute drive downtown to catch this animated comedy debut for writer and director Julian Glander. Boys Go to Jupiter makes for a great summertime palate-cleanser after a disappointing summer at the movies. The popcorn has seemed pretty stale in recent months, and this is the equivalent of a packet of vividly and artificially colored fizzy candies.
