Looking Closer with Jeffrey Overstreet

Looking Closer with Jeffrey Overstreet

An Alphabetical Index of Film Reviews and Reflections

I’ve written about hundreds and hundreds of movies since the mid-’90s. I am in the process of restoring a vast library of titles from my decades of writing on Wordpress, Substack, Image, Christianity Today, Paste, and elsewhere. Here is an alphabetical index-in-progress of some of them. Right now, many of them direct you to other sites, but that will be corrected soon.

If a link is bold and live, the review is probably in decent condition and ready for readers. If it isn’t, then it can probably be found via Search, but I haven’t updated and approved it for visitors. If you’re looking for a review you can’t find, email me at overstreetreviews—at—Gmail, at I’ll do what I can.

Some reviews are available only to those with paid subscriptions.

DISCLAIMER: Keep in mind that I, being human like you, have grown and changed dramatically since I began reviewing movies in the early 1990s. And that process continues. To borrow a line from an Over the Rhine song: “I am truly skeptical of all that I have said.” I will gladly correspond with anyone about my reviews, even those who disagree. (Fact is, I disagree with myself frequently!) But I will not answer hate mail. And I will permanently block those who send me rants and insults. There is enough violence and cruelty in the world, and I am making this website a safe place for neighbors to gather and give one another respectful attention as our we grow in wisdom and grace.
