The 2023 Academy Award Nominations!

A close friend of mine who works as a script and continuity supervisor for all kinds of films sends me sympathy cards during Oscar season.

So, trigger warning: Now that the Academy Award nominations for the films of 2022 have been announced, cinephiles have commenced to vigorously debating whether or not Everything Everywhere All at Once is a better film than Top Gun: Maverick. Most 2022 films that were celebrated at international festivals seem mysteriously forgotten. And here I go, as usual, climbing up onto my soapbox for my annual fit of complaints.
