Why I love the collaborations of John Williams and Steven Spielberg

Timothy Greiving, author of the incredible book John Williams: A Composer’s Life, is a generous guy.

He could bring all kinds of superstars to this table, as he travels the globe interviewing the great film composers and their filmmaking collaborators. And I suspect that, over time, he will.

But he called me up anyway to ask me about my history with the music of John Williams and the films of Steven Spielberg.

Why? Well, I’m lucky to have started corresponding with him years ago, and by grace, we’ve become friends. As I posted a few months back, I had the privilege of interviewing him about his lifelong fascination with John Williams’s music and career. We had so much fun, we just kept on talking about it after the event was over the audience dissipated. This gives us a chance to continue the conversation with you.

So, you’re invited to listen in on two crazy fanboys.

Episode 3: Why Jeffrey Overstreet Loves Spielberg/Williams
The film critic and fantasy novelist brings the religioso of this duo to the fore.

When you’ve listened, let me know what thoughts it brings to your mind! Do you agree or disagree with any of our opinions on particular John Williams scores? Do you want to weigh in with your own views about your favorites?
